Nine year old prodigy wins Street Snooker Tournament

Nine year old Liam Dulson, who is a Watford FC junior player showed onlookers and fellow competitors that grass roots football development in England is alive and kicking, after an impressive performance of skill and tenacity at Street Snooker on July 28th in Panshanger/Welwyn Garden City. Notching up breaks of 40, 32, 28 and 26 the young prodigy showed how Street Snooker might just be the perfect game to enhance skill and target practice for budding football stars of tomorrow. After winning a cash prize, a signed football from Watford FC first team and a Street Snooker trophy, Liam was beaming with excitement and is already looking forward to his next Street Snooker challenge.


The tournament, which was well attended in the Hertfordshire sunshine, gave Playinnovation and outreach partners Child UK an opportunity to analyse the tournament format and prepare for the next Street Snooker competition at a venue and time to be disclosed shortly. Community participation initiatives such as this one in Welwyn Garden City give young people an opportunity to shine and can help to raise self esteem, set personal goals and increase skill levels plus concentration. Other noteworthy entrants to the competition were runner up Alfie Adcock, age 11 who reached the final after a stunning display of target skills, however was beaten after a thrilling final. The highest “break” of the day went to 13 year old Josh Clancy who scored a 42 Break before being knocked out another junior hotshot.
