Children shine at Trowbridge National Play Day
28 May, 2012
After recent spells of rain and thunder, the British sun continued its current run of glorious sunshine for what turned out to be a fun packed National Play day at Trowbridge Park in Wiltshire.
The Trowbridge community came out in force to experience a number of sporting activities from gymnastics, through to wrestling and football, whilst mums and dads queued up with youngsters to have their faces painted and cool off with ice creams from local suppliers.
As for Street Snooker, the activity enjoyed its usual rate of success, with 180 players documented having played the game on the day and streams of local residents signing up with requests to get Street Snooker installed in their own local park.
Stallards Park will be the first location in Trowbridge to have a permanent version of the target game installed, after councillors approved the scheme to go ahead and be installed in late June 2012.As for budding young soccer players in Trowbridge, the top score of the day went to a very talented nine year old boy, Hayden Buckland who fended of stiff competition (including his dad) to achieve the highest kicking score of 53.
The top scores from the day have been collected and used towards the beginning of a national street snooker league, which will launch officially at the end of 2012.
Permanent installations of Street Snooker are now popping up all around the country and are available for parks and school environments for under £10K or as community event days.
