World Champion Launches Innovative New Outdoor Game

World Football Freestyle champion John Farnworth lent his support to launch a new hybrid sports game in Hemel Hempstead, designed to get young people active, whilst promoting community cohesion.

Dacorum Borough Council has just overseen the installation of the first Street Snooker kick wall in the borough, at a site popular with local young people; Woodhall Farm Park. John Farnworth thrilled the crowd with a special performance including all new tricks, while Child UK was on hand to give a free Brazilian Skills workshop to local youths.

The tournament to win a coveted Street Snooker trophy resulted in success for Jack Guiton (11) and Harry Fox (14) who got the highest breaks of the day for the kicking and throwing versions of Street Snooker, respectively.

Dave Austin – Assistant Director of Neighbourhood Delivery at Dacorum Borough Council commented “We had a few issues in the past with antisocial behaviour and the kids needed new activities to play. What we were keen to see was something original and creative where kids can learn and have some fun”.

After playing Street Snooker himself, Mr Austin commented “It’s absolutely fantastic. I’ve had a busy week in the office and it’s very therapeutic…I loved it!”.

John Farnworth, whose ball-manipulating skills have landed him numerous titles and four Guinness World Records, commented: “It’s great to see young boys and girls of many different skill levels out enjoying the game. It’s rare that such an inclusive and exciting game is made available to the wider community and I think Dacorum Borough Council have been pioneers in hosting one of the first Street Snooker games.”

Street Snooker is the brainchild of Marco Boi, director of London-based company Playinnovation, who comments: “At this year’s Snooker Championships in Sheffield we had approx 4,400 people play the game over the two week event. We are delighted to be providing even more aspiring sports stars with our exciting and healthy game”.

Street Snooker is the first in a series of innovative outdoor games designed by Playinnovation, whose aim is to offer a range of exciting, high-quality gaming solutions at some of the lowest prices in the industry.
